The Nordic-Baltic PIAAC Conference 2026 brings together policymakers, researchers and practitioners to explore the latest insights from OECD’s Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC). The conference takes place on 26–27 August at the University of Jyväskylä.
What to expect
The programme (to be published soon here) will feature keynote presentations and panel discussions with leading European experts. Participants will gain access to new findings from recent PIAAC follow-up studies and engage with current debates shaping the future of adult skills development.
Although the conference focuses on the Nordic-Baltic countries, international participants are warmly welcome. The conference language is English.
Call for abstracts
The organising committee invites submissions for oral and poster presentations.
Deadline: 30 April 2026 at 23:59 (UTC+2).
Abstracts should relate directly to PIAAC – e.g., use of PIAAC data—or address broader themes connected to the survey, such as adult skills, adult learning or labour-market dynamics. Submissions from outside the Nordic-Baltic region are also welcome.
Registration
Register here.
Organisers and funding
The conference is organised by the Nordic-Baltic PIAAC Network and the Nordic Network for Lifelong Learning (NLL). It is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers, NLL, EPALE – Electronic Platform for Adult Learning in Europe, and the University of Jyväskylä.
